Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi unveiled the newly refurbished Quetta International Airport in a grand inauguration ceremony. During his address, he emphasized that the airport's extensive modernization, costing two billion rupees, now allows even Boeing 777 aircraft to safely land. Additionally, he highlighted the successful renovation of airports in Multan, Peshawar, and Sialkot, along with the completion and inauguration of the long-awaited Islamabad International Airport.
PM Abbasi underscored the restoration of peace in Balochistan and stressed the need for concentrated development efforts in the region, asserting that the progress of Balochistan is synonymous with the progress of Pakistan. He also hailed Balochistan's potential to become a connectivity hub, thanks to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Furthermore, he elaborated on how CPEC projects will foster regional and global connectivity, particularly by establishing rail networks to connect Central Asia. The Prime Minister proudly mentioned the PML-N government's commitment to completing various infrastructure projects, including the construction of 1700 kilometers of motorways nationwide.
In a significant move, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated the National Incubation Centre at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences in Quetta, emphasizing the pivotal role of democracy in the country's progress. He called upon political parties to unite, setting aside differences and focusing on Balochistan's development.
The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed at Quetta International Airport by Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qaddus Bizenjo, provincial ministers, and senior officials upon his arrival.
