China and Pakistan have launched a collaborative research initiative focused on the sustainable reuse of bulk industrial solid waste and desert sand. The agreement, signed among Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), Shihezi University (SHZU), Karakoram International University (KIU), and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Highway Science and Technology Co., Ltd., aims to develop environmentally friendly construction solutions.
The project's core focus is the “Research and Application of Key Technologies for Solid Waste-Based Green and Low-Carbon Fluidized Solidified Soil,” as reported by China Economic Net (CEN). The research seeks to create high-performance cementitious materials derived from solid waste, which can improve desert sand and produce sustainable fluidized solidified soil.
This innovation is expected to lower construction costs by reducing waste disposal and transportation expenses while enabling the commercial utilization of industrial solid waste. Additionally, the agreement fosters scientific collaboration, talent development, and technology transfer, paving the way for sustainable infrastructure advancements in the region.
