Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated the mutual benefits reaped from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project in a recent virtual meeting with China's National Development and Reform Commission Chairman, He Lifeng.

Their discussion centered on assessing the ongoing CPEC projects and planning for upcoming initiatives. Despite the hurdles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Imran Khan emphasized the resilience of the enduring Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He commended the collaborative efforts of both nations and expressed his contentment with how CPEC's initial projects have transformed Pakistan's economic landscape, establishing a strong foundation for sustainable growth.

Reaffirming their commitment to the timely completion and high-quality development of CPEC projects, the Prime Minister pledged to harness Gwadar's potential as a regional commerce and industry hub. He also highlighted the importance of preparatory work on the ML-I and other crucial energy projects.

Chairman He Lifeng noted that over the past seven years, China has become Pakistan's foremost investment and trade partner. Both nations are enthusiastic about maintaining and advancing their economic and trade ties. China demonstrated its willingness to support Pakistan in areas such as industrialization, agricultural modernization, science, technology, and socio-economic development, encouraging Chinese public and private enterprises to invest in CPEC projects.

In a significant move, the two sides decided to establish novel green, digital, health, trade, and industry corridors, fostering sector-specific cooperation. Moreover, they welcomed the signing of the Framework Agreement on Industrial Cooperation between Pakistan's Board of Investment and China's NDRC. This agreement aims to facilitate the relocation of Chinese industrial units to CPEC special economic zones and accelerate investments from China and other sources.
