Cabinet Committee on CPEC Initiates Talks with China on ML-1 Project Funding


Federal Minister Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar led the Cabinet Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) meeting in Islamabad, gearing up for the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting on November 06. Attending this gathering were notable figures such as Federal Minister Sheikh Rasheed, Minister Ali Zaidi, Minister Murad Saeed, State Minister Hammad Azhar, and Advisor Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, along with key officials from relevant ministries, Planning Commission members, and provincial government representatives.

The meeting delved into an array of proposals for the forthcoming JCC, spotlighting developments in Gwadar and provincial government-endorsed projects. Additionally, the agenda encompassed projects spanning energy, transportation infrastructure, water management, industrial collaboration, and agriculture.

Significantly, the ML-1 railway project was a focal point, with an emphasis on establishing a high-level financing expert group to navigate loan modalities effectively.
