The Makran division grid, once isolated, has now been seamlessly integrated into the national grid, infusing an additional 100 megawatts of electricity into the city of Gwadar.
Jawwad Akhtar Khokhar, the Advisor for Maritime Affairs at Pakistan's Planning Commission, unveiled this transformative achievement in an exclusive conversation with Gwadar Pro on a recent Wednesday.
Khokhar elaborated that the monumental feat was realized through the activation of a 286-kilometer, 132kV dual-circuit transmission line traversing Naal-Basima-Naag-Panjgur, a milestone reached on May 30th. Gwadar, a thriving coastal city, now enjoys a robust power supply of 300 megawatts, facilitated by three transmission lines—two originating from Iran, and the latest connection to the national grid.
Furthermore, Khokhar highlighted two other major milestones. Firstly, a state-of-the-art 1.2 million gallons per day water desalination plant, funded by a generous Chinese grant of Rs2 billion, is set to be officially inaugurated on June 30th. Secondly, the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital, Gwadar, will be unveiled on August 14th, while the grand opening of the Gwadar International Airport is scheduled for September 30th.
These momentous developments are poised to usher in a transformative era of progress and prosperity for Gwadar, fostering economic growth and bolstering the region's burgeoning Blue Economy.
