Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Aqeeli, announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to inaugurate the Iran-Gwadar 100 MW power transmission project during his upcoming visit to Balochistan next week. This declaration was made during a high-level meeting convened to assess the progress of development initiatives in Gwadar.
Aqeeli highlighted that this transmission project will provide Gwadar with 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran. The collaborative efforts of the National Dispatch Company, Quetta Electric Supply Company, Gwadar Port Authority, Gwadar Development Authority, China Overseas Port Holding Company, and other relevant entities have successfully prepared for this project.
Upon its inauguration by the Prime Minister, Gwadar will receive a formal supply of electricity. Additionally, the Prime Minister is expected to unveil the inaugural cross-stuffing facility at Gwadar Port, oversee dredging activities at the port, and distribute boat engine checks to deserving fishermen from the region during his visit.
The Chief Secretary underscored the government's dedication to the development of Balochistan's coastal region. The various uplift projects launched in the province aim to benefit the local populace, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision for Balochistan.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary received a comprehensive briefing on the administrative structure of Gwadar district, its historical significance, and the ongoing federal and provincial development projects. Commissioner Makran, Syed Faasil Ahmed Agha, DG Gwadar Development Authority, Mujibur Rehman Qambrani, DC Gwadar, Izzat Nazir Baloch, and other officials provided updates on the project's progress. They also reviewed the preparations and arrangements for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's anticipated visit to Gwadar.
