Ormara Beach

Nestled in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, Ormara stands as a historic town in the Gwadar District, gracing the Makran coastal region with its significance as a strategic port. Positioned 360 kilometers west of Karachi and 230 kilometers east of Gwadar along the Arabian Sea, Ormara serves as a pivotal point along the Makran Coastal Highway, perfectly positioned midway between these bustling cities.

With roots that trace back to the days of Alexander the Great, Ormara holds tales of ancient encounters. Legend has it that Alexander and his army, on their triumphant return from the Indus region where they conquered the lands of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 400 BC, made a memorable stop in Ormara. It was during this historical sojourn that one of Alexander's esteemed generals, Ormoz, met his fate, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape. In honor of this revered general, the town was christened Ormara, weaving together a rich tapestry of history and legend along the coastal shores of the Arabian Sea.
