Pakistan and China have affirmed their commitment to accelerate the execution of Gwadar initiatives, with a particular focus on advancing social sector projects within the Gwadar region.
This consensus was reached during virtual meetings of the Joint Working Groups for Gwadar and Planning, convened in Islamabad. The co-chairpersons for these meetings were Zafar Hassan, the Secretary of Planning, Development, and Reform, and XIA Qing, the Director General of China's National Development and Reform Commission.
As a noteworthy outcome, they proposed the inclusion of three pivotal projects for presentation at the upcoming Joint Cooperation Committee meeting scheduled in Beijing next month. These projects comprise the New Gwadar International Airport, the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital in Gwadar, and a Vocational and Technical Institute.
Furthermore, the two parties concurred on fostering socio-economic growth and establishing a roadmap for future collaboration. This approach aims to facilitate the swift identification and execution of projects.
Zafar Hassan, while expressing contentment with the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, underscored Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the development of Gwadar.
