The Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) is gearing up to launch the water supply network for the Gwadar Free Zone North on August 30th, with an open bidding process on the horizon. Sources within GPA have hinted that work orders for the project are slated for release in early September.
GPA's vision involves the simultaneous installation of two water supply pipelines originating from different sources – the Sawar Dam and the Shadi Kor Dam, along with a state-of-the-art Chinese-funded desalination plant capable of producing 1.2 million gallons of water daily. Both pipelines will span a substantial 6 kilometers each.
The Gwadar Free Zone Company, entrusted with managing the Gwadar Free Zone, will take charge of extending the water supply pipeline network from the zone's entry point to the ongoing factory constructions.
On a parallel track, GPA has earmarked funds to bring electricity from the Deep-sea Port Grid Station to the North Free Zone. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has redirected these funds to the Ministry of Energy for the setup of the distribution network.
Under the watchful eye of the GPA Chairman, both projects are advancing briskly. These developments are poised to overcome the longstanding hurdle of insufficient public infrastructure that has hindered the industrialization of the Gwadar Free Zone in the past.
