Pakistan Strengthens Ties with China under Belt and Road Initiative


Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering its development cooperation with China, particularly under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Global Development Initiatives (GDI). During a meeting with Luo Zhaohui, Director of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, in Kunming, China, Iqbal emphasized the mutual collaboration between the two nations.

Iqbal expressed appreciation for China's role in providing a platform for regional countries to share experiences and collaborate. He specifically praised China’s leadership in advancing the development of the blue economy, highlighting the importance of this sector for sustainable regional growth.

Luo Zhaohui, on his part, thanked Pakistan for its consistent participation in the China-hosted forums, sending high-level delegations for three consecutive years. He emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication between the leaderships of both countries, noting the strong consensus reached on various developmental and regional issues.
