Hazara Motorway Repairs Fast-Tracked to Boost CPEC Connectivity

Restoration work on the Hazara Motorway, a vital component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has gained significant momentum following the directives issued by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

A high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Hazara Division Fayaz Ali Shah assessed the ongoing progress, with participation from officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the CPEC Burhan section. During the session, NHA briefed that rehabilitation activities were being carried out at five major locations—three of which have already been completed, while the remaining two are approaching finalization.

Commissioner Fayaz emphasized the importance of maintaining international construction and safety standards. He directed teams to ensure close collaboration with Motorway Police to prevent overloading and enhance road safety. Despite noticeable progress, he pointed out that uneven surfaces and bumps on some segments were still affecting smooth traffic flow, urging prompt repair and resurfacing.

He further highlighted that the Hazara Motorway serves as a strategic route for regional trade and travel, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to the CPEC framework and sustainable infrastructure development. Officials assured that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeline, ensuring high-quality standards to support long-term connectivity and economic growth.
