Pakistan and China Initiate Inaugural Cross-Border Road Transport Trade Route


The inaugural convoy of cargo trucks has embarked on its journey from China to Pakistan, marking the commencement of international trade between the two nations via road transport.

This historic milestone represents the initiation of cross-border goods transportation under the auspices of the United Nations International Road Transport Convention, forged through a collaborative effort between Pakistan's National Logistics Corporation and CEVA Logistics, a renowned Chinese enterprise.

This significant achievement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, celebrated with a ceremony hosted at the Kashgar Yuanfang International Logistics Port Company, where the official launch of the TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) service was commemorated. Distinguished attendees included representatives from NLC, Kashgar Customs, Municipal Committee officials, CEVA Logistics, and the Cross-Border E-Commerce Association.

During the event, speakers underscored the pivotal role of the TIR transport route, connecting Kashgar to Islamabad, and illuminated future plans for the efficient movement of goods between the two countries under the TIR framework.

This initiative promises to establish a secure and expedient land route, facilitating trade with landlocked Central Asian nations. Streamlined and harmonized customs procedures at the borders will expedite cross-border TIR shipments, reducing both time and costs.

As the ceremony concluded, the inaugural convoy of cargo trucks embarked on its journey towards Pakistan, symbolizing a momentous step in enhancing international trade and connectivity.
