QUETTA: In a bid to bolster tourism prospects in Gwadar, Director General of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Dawood Khan Khilji, has unveiled plans for a dedicated tourism committee tasked with fostering an inviting atmosphere for investment in the coastal city's tourism sector.
Led by the director of administration, the committee, comprising key members including those from finance and urban planning, aims to identify and capitalize on Gwadar's diverse array of tourist attractions and investment opportunities, as per a statement released on Saturday.
Having secured approval from its governing body, the GDA has greenlit a holistic tourism policy aimed at rejuvenating and expanding the sector to amplify revenue streams.
This policy, crafted with a keen eye on Gwadar's global and natural tourism significance, is rooted in principles of public-private partnership, business facilitation, innovation, sustainability, service quality enhancement, and tourist rights protection.
Furthermore, this initiative is poised to fuel employment generation and stimulate tourism sector growth.
Embracing contemporary tourism dynamics, the committee pledges to engage stakeholders, solicit feedback, and pursue strategic objectives for regional tourism development.
The forthcoming strategy promises not only job creation but also the regulation and diversification of tourism offerings.
Aligned with international standards, GDA's tourism policy lays the groundwork for establishing a dedicated tourism wing, addressing workforce needs, and assessing potential tourist hotspots within Gwadar's master plan framework.
To this end, a comprehensive study will be undertaken to identify and capitalize on untapped tourism potential in the region.
