Gwadar has strengthened its recreational and tourism appeal with the inauguration of a new public park in the Sangar Phase-I Housing Scheme. The park, officially opened on Friday by Major General Habib Nawaz, General Officer Commanding (GOC), and Deputy Commissioner Hamood-ur-Rehman, marks a key step in enhancing the city’s civic infrastructure and livability.
During the inauguration, the GOC and DC toured the park, inspecting its landscaping, pathways, and modern facilities. Officials praised the project team for delivering a state-of-the-art public space that complements Gwadar’s vision as a clean, green, and coastal city. The ceremony concluded with local Balochi music and refreshments, highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage and community spirit.

According to the Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Office, the park is designed to serve both residents and visitors as a vibrant leisure hub, reflecting Gwadar’s ongoing urban transformation and increasing prominence as a tourism destination in Balochistan. Senior civil-military officials, including Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Moin-ur-Rehman, SSP Zia ul Haq Mandokhail, and other key administrators, attended the event.
Launched in 1992, the Sangar Housing Project (SHP) remains one of Gwadar’s flagship urban developments, supported by the Government of Balochistan and supervised by the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Strategically located on the scenic Koh-e-Batil Peninsula, approximately 500 feet above sea level, SHP was Gwadar’s first planned residential and commercial scheme. It offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and incorporates dual-carriage roads, electrical networks, sewage systems, and water pipelines across four of its five planned phases.
Project Director Hamood ur Rehman emphasized that the Sangar Housing Project embodies modern urban planning, merit-based record management, and sustainable development practices with consultancy support from recognized firms. The addition of the public park reinforces Gwadar’s commitment to creating green, community-friendly spaces that attract tourism and enhance residents’ quality of life.
