China’s Key Role in Pakistan’s Digital and Financial Future

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has affirmed Pakistan’s strategic pivot towards Chinese investment and technical collaboration rather than relying on traditional aid. Speaking in an interview with China Global Television Network-Urdu, the minister highlighted key sectors such as Agriculture, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology as promising domains for Chinese involvement.

He praised China's leadership in environmental sustainability and green projects, presenting it as a global model. Emphasising Pakistan’s eagerness to learn, he noted the country’s interest in adopting China's expertise in these progressive areas.

The Finance Minister acknowledged China’s considerable contributions under the Belt and Road Initiative, especially in infrastructure and energy development. He described this support—both financial and technical—as crucial to Pakistan’s current and future economic transformation.

Addressing the nation's agrarian revival, he shared that Pakistan aims to reposition agriculture as a core driver of economic growth. He recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China last summer, where the PM explored modern farming techniques including vertical farming in Shaanxi province and engaged with agricultural universities.

To strengthen this collaboration, approximately 1,000 Pakistani agricultural professionals and students are expected to receive training and skill development in China, focusing on knowledge transfer under the guidance of Chinese experts.

The minister concluded by reinforcing the significance of the long-standing Pakistan-China relationship, describing it as enduring, sustainable, and instrumental in achieving mutual progress.
