Huawei, a global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart technologies, has announced a major initiative to provide advanced ICT training to 300,000 young Pakistanis. The initiative is part of Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Youth Program aimed at empowering the nation’s youth with crucial digital skills.
Rana Mashood, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, recently visited Huawei’s office in Islamabad to finalize the details of this large-scale training program. This visit followed important technical discussions held on September 4th and 5th, which paved the way for incorporating Huawei’s cutting-edge training materials into Pakistan’s education system. Spearheaded by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the initiative will leverage Huawei’s global expertise to elevate Pakistan’s technical education landscape.
The program aims to revolutionize technical education and foster skill development across the nation, with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) acting as the implementation partner under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme.
This collaboration builds on the agreements made during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Huawei’s headquarters in China. During his trip, the Prime Minister invited Huawei to further invest in key sectors such as taxation, e-governance, and Pakistan’s Safe City projects. Huawei Chairman Liang Hua welcomed the initiative, and the meeting featured presentations on Huawei’s global footprint and future investments in Pakistan’s digital landscape, including sectors like telecommunications, digital banking, and artificial intelligence.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently on a five-day visit to China, commended Huawei’s innovative solutions and urged the company to expand its investments in Pakistan. He also appreciated Huawei’s role in Pakistan’s Safe City projects and encouraged the company to broaden its involvement in cities linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
