Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong praised Pakistan’s significant progress in counter-terrorism and economic stability, announcing that nearly 90% of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects have been successfully completed.
Speaking at a seminar in Islamabad, he emphasized that the CPEC initiative has already begun to transform Pakistan’s economy, which recorded 2.6% growth. He further noted the strong partnership between Pakistan and China in tackling security concerns, expressing confidence that challenges affecting CPEC would be resolved with continued cooperation.
The ambassador suggested aligning China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Pakistan’s ‘Uraan Pakistan’ program to maximize benefits, enhance connectivity, and create broader investment opportunities. He underlined Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision that the “fruits of CPEC” are not limited to Pakistan and China, but can spread prosperity across the entire region.
Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, also addressing the seminar, described CPEC as “a sharing of dreams and hopes” between the two nations. He highlighted its impact in generating jobs, supporting agriculture, boosting industry, and improving trade from Khunjerab to Gwadar.
Tarar stressed that Gwadar Port is being developed according to international standards, aiming to make it Pakistan’s most advanced and secure city. He reiterated that CPEC remains a guarantor of development, security, and long-lasting prosperity, while strengthening the historic friendship between Pakistan and China.
