China Supports Diplomatic Boost Between Pakistan and Afghanistan

China has expressed strong support for the recent decision by Pakistan and Afghanistan to elevate their diplomatic relations from charge d’affaires to ambassadorial level. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, in a routine media briefing, welcomed the move and praised it as a step toward deeper cooperation and regional harmony.

The announcement by the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan signals a renewed commitment to building mutual trust and reinforcing bilateral ties. Lin Jian emphasised that China views this diplomatic upgrade as a significant measure aligned with the outcomes of the informal trilateral meeting held in May between the foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

“This decision will not only strengthen cooperation between the two neighbouring countries but also contribute to peace and stability in the broader region,” the spokesperson noted.

He further added that China remains ready and willing to continue playing a constructive and facilitative role in improving relations and fostering development between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This support reflects China’s broader vision for diplomatic engagement and sustainable peace in South Asia.
