Expanding Pakistan-China-Romania Trade for a Shared Economic Future

In a significant step toward deepening international collaboration, the Pakistan-Romania Business Council (PRBC) and the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) convened a high-level meeting to explore trilateral trade opportunities among Pakistan, China, and Romania.

The session, held on Saturday afternoon, aimed to expand cooperative frameworks under an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and to identify emerging avenues for investment, innovation, and market expansion. The PRBC delegation, led by Chairman Sohail Shamim Firpo and Advisor & COO Atif Farooqi, engaged in detailed discussions with the PCJCCI team, including Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif and Senior Vice President Brigadier (Retd.) Mansoor.

Both sides emphasised the importance of leveraging China’s vast market potential and Romania’s strategic European positioning to establish trans-regional trade linkages. The dialogue highlighted prospects for joint ventures, industrial partnerships, and technology exchange, with a special focus on agriculture, logistics, and renewable energy sectors.

Legal Advisor Barrister Mian Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri provided an insightful overview of the regulatory frameworks required for secure and efficient cross-border business operations. He underscored that a robust legal foundation would be key to sustaining long-term international partnerships.

PCJCCI Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif acknowledged Atif Farooqi’s proactive efforts in bridging economic ties, commending his “dynamic role in connecting the Pakistan-Romania bilateral trade network to China’s thriving economy.” He noted that the synergy between PRBC and PCJCCI would pave the way for innovation-led entrepreneurship and sustainable trade growth.

The meeting concluded with all parties reaffirming their commitment to joint trade missions, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and investment forums aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s role as a regional trade hub under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This trilateral engagement is expected to enhance Pakistan’s access to both Asian and European markets, fostering shared prosperity and cross-border collaboration.
