Peshawar: The second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been described as a transformative era by Muzzammil Aslam, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance. Speaking at a seminar hosted by City University Peshawar and organized by the Chinese Cultural Center, China Window, he emphasized the immense potential of this phase to revolutionize Pakistan’s industrial and economic landscape.
Highlighting operational factories in the Rashakai Economic Zone, Aslam expressed optimism about job creation and economic uplift in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called for leveraging Chinese expertise to accelerate sustainable development, while urging policymakers to ensure security and build investor confidence.
With investments projected to surpass $60 billion, the seminar featured insights from Dr. Khalid, Prof. Dr. Gulzar Jalal, and Rabia Basri, who advocated for learning from China’s poverty alleviation strategies and addressing past inefficiencies. They stressed strategic planning to foster CPEC’s success and maximize its benefits.
The seminar, attended by students, academics, and professionals, also addressed the need to counter skilled labour migration. Aslam highlighted the importance of creating a skilled workforce to meet industry demands and provide employment for the youth.
Organizers reiterated their commitment to raising public awareness about CPEC’s significance, fostering stronger Pakistan-China ties, and promoting collaborative initiatives. The event concluded with a call for collective efforts to make CPEC Phase Two a game-changer for Pakistan’s long-term development.
