Pakistan and China Forge Industrial Technology Training Pact

Five-year agreement set to modernise Pakistan's footwear and garment industries

Pakistan and China Forge Industrial Technology Training Pact

In a significant step towards industrial modernisation, Pakistan and China have signed a five-year agreement focusing on technology transfer and skilled labour training. The collaboration was formalised between the Guangdong Shoe-Making Machinery Association—an affiliate of the Chinese government—and the Pakistan Industrial Sewing Machines Importers and Dealers Association (PISMIDA). This partnership is expected to revolutionise Pakistan’s leather, footwear, and garment machinery sectors by introducing cutting-edge technologies.

According to PISMIDA Vice Chairman Muhammad Yaseen, the agreement will not only bring advanced machinery into the country but also train Pakistani workers to meet global industrial standards. This specialised training initiative aims to elevate local expertise, aligning it with international best practices in manufacturing processes.

The pact was announced following Yaseen’s participation in the global ‘JISMA’ exhibition in China, where he engaged in high-level discussions with global industry leaders and commercial attaches to explore strategic cooperation and shared growth opportunities. Yaseen hailed the agreement as a historic milestone poised to unlock new industrial capabilities and elevate Pakistan's export potential.

Post-Eidul Azha, PISMIDA plans to conduct stakeholder engagement sessions to ensure industry players understand how to leverage the agreement's benefits. The focus will include long-term collaboration, expert delegation exchanges, and comprehensive development in industrial management and vocational training.

Yaseen stressed that, with government support, the initiative could serve as a catalyst for technological advancement across Pakistan's manufacturing sector. It promises to strengthen Pakistan’s competitive edge in the global market while creating a more skilled and innovative industrial workforce.
