Road Network Completed for Chinese Textile Park SEZ

A major infrastructure milestone has been achieved for a Chinese-owned textile park in Pakistan, with the completion of a 4.2-kilometre road connecting Lahore’s border to Kasur. The newly built route directly links the main building of Challenge Fashion (Pvt) Ltd to a 100-acre land site in Kasur, earmarked for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) developed by the Shanghai-based company.

An official from Challenge Fashion shared that the textile park is expected to be completed within 12 months. Once operational, it is projected to generate $500 million in foreign exchange and create 30,000 new jobs annually. Over the next three to five years, the company plans to invest $150 million in the park, with an anticipated additional $100 million to be drawn in from supporting industries.

However, the company faces challenges in acquiring high-quality fabrics, as over 80% of surface accessories are currently imported—posing a bottleneck to scaling operations. The textile park aims to address this by becoming South Asia’s most sustainable and innovative textile hub, showcasing advanced Chinese industrial park models and eco-friendly production systems.

The official emphasised that the development will include efficient, automated fabric and garment production lines alongside modern production management systems. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to reshape Pakistan’s labor and management structures by introducing a complete supply chain cluster.

By creating a Chinese-standard industrial park, Challenge Fashion hopes to encourage more Chinese enterprises to consider Pakistan for expansion. The park will also serve as a launchpad for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of Pakistan’s favourable investment policies.
