Pakistan, Gansu Deepen Collaboration in Farming, Innovation and Education

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, has wrapped up a fruitful three-day visit to Gansu province, aimed at enhancing cooperation in agriculture, education, and cultural exchange.

During meetings with senior provincial leaders, including Hu Changsheng, CPC Secretary of Gansu, Ambassador Hashmi discussed opportunities to strengthen government-to-government, business-to-business, and people-to-people partnerships. Agriculture remained a central theme, with a focus on irrigation techniques, rain-fed farming, and livestock development.

The envoy visited the Lanzhou New Area and Jinchuan Science Park, where he explored advanced industrial innovations and sustainable technologies, highlighting their potential alignment with Pakistan’s development priorities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In education, Ambassador Hashmi commended the scale and quality of the Gansu Vocational Education Park and met faculty at Lanzhou University, where more than 200 Pakistani students are enrolled. He welcomed plans to expand research collaboration, especially in areas that could directly benefit smallholder farmers in Pakistan.
