China will continue to pursue high-quality development and expand high-level opening-up, reinforcing its role as a stabilizing force in a turbulent global environment, a senior political advisor said ahead of the country’s annual “two sessions.”
Speaking at a press conference of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spokesperson Liu Jieyi stated that China remains “the most stable, most reliable, and most positive force in a turbulent world.” He emphasized that the country’s domestic development strategy is designed not only to enhance national prosperity but also to generate benefits for the wider international community.
The fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC will open on March 4 in Beijing, followed by the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress on March 5. Collectively known as the “two sessions,” these annual gatherings of China’s top political advisory body and legislature set the tone for the country’s economic, social, and diplomatic priorities for the year ahead.
Liu underscored that foreign exchanges and public diplomacy are key responsibilities of the CPPCC. Over the past year, the advisory body has strengthened people-to-people connectivity, think-tank collaboration, and international engagement to support China’s broader diplomatic objectives.
Highlighting the rapidly evolving global landscape, Liu noted that the world is experiencing profound transformations and increasing uncertainty, with mounting geopolitical and economic challenges. In response, China continues to advocate building a community with a shared future for mankind while promoting major global initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative.
He further reaffirmed China’s commitment to advancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, supporting inclusive economic globalization and an orderly multipolar world. According to Liu, China remains dedicated to working with the international community to promote lasting peace, shared prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, and environmental sustainability.
As the two sessions convene in Beijing, China’s leadership is expected to outline concrete measures to sustain economic growth, expand global engagement, and reinforce its positioning as a constructive force in global governance.
