Continuous Cargo Flow Through Khunjerab Pass at Sost Dry Port

The Sost Dry Port, managed by the National Logistics Corporation (NLC), has successfully completed its second year of uninterrupted cargo trade through the Khunjerab Pass, highlighting exceptional operational resilience and professional efficiency even under harsh weather conditions.

Throughout the year, the port remained fully functional despite heavy snowfall and extreme winter temperatures. To maintain seamless trade between Pakistan and China, NLC has upgraded the port’s infrastructure, introducing state-of-the-art scanning systems for faster cargo inspections, additional weighbridges, and expanded warehouse facilities to ensure cargo safety and operational efficiency.

These enhancements have led to a marked increase in trade volumes despite challenging climatic conditions. In December 2025 alone, Sost Dry Port handled 12,000 metric tons of import and export cargo. In the first two weeks of January 2026, over 4,860 metric tons of cargo and 132 empty containers were efficiently processed, demonstrating the port’s capacity to support continuous year-round trade.

Further strengthening trade links, NLC has established a joint logistics company with Chinese transport enterprises. This strategic collaboration has enhanced forward transit trade, improving connectivity with remote Chinese regions and Central Asian states, and contributing to broader regional trade integration.
