Silkway Impex Eyes Long-Term Mineral Development in Pakistan


Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, recently met with a delegation from Silkway Impex Pvt Ltd and a high-level Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) team to explore investment cooperation, with a strong emphasis on Pakistan’s mineral sector.

The meeting included Deng Yubin, Head of the BRI for Yunnan Province. Sheikh underscored Pakistan’s vast mineral potential, highlighting the sector as a central pillar for bilateral collaboration. He referred to the recent Pak-China Mineral Cooperation Forum, emphasizing the country’s goal to develop integrated mineral value chains encompassing exploration, processing, beneficiation, and downstream industrial activities. Copper and other strategic minerals were identified as areas with substantial scope for long-term partnership.
