Gwadar Port: A 'Shining Pearl' in the Region, Affirms Chinese Ambassador


Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong has hailed Gwadar Port as a radiant gem in the region and a boon for neighboring countries. Ambassador Rong expressed these sentiments during his two-day visit to Gwadar, Balochistan.

His visit encompassed a tour of key CPEC projects in Gwadar, including the New Gwadar International Airport Project, the China-Pak Friendship Hospital, China-Pak Technical and Vocational Institute, Gwadar Eastbay Expressway Project, Gwadar Free Zone, and Gwadar Port.

During his visit, Ambassador Rong engaged with notable figures such as Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Naseer Kashani, Gwadar Development Authority Director-General Shahzeb Kakar, and Pakistan Navy Western Commander Rear Admiral Jawad Ahmed.

He also attended the launch of the Green Employment Scheme and the Scholarship Awards for outstanding students at Middle School Faqeer Colony Gwadar.

Ambassador Rong extended festive greetings to the dedicated workers at the construction sites, acknowledging their commitment to advancing the project despite being away from their families during the Spring Festival. He commended their dedication and urged companies in Gwadar to expedite their projects while prioritizing COVID-19 safety measures, emphasizing the importance of China-Pakistan friendship.

In meetings with Maj Gen Aamer Najam and Rear Admiral Jawad Ahmed, Ambassador Rong lauded the armed forces' role in safeguarding CPEC projects and personnel, underscoring the paramount importance of safety.

He highlighted the significance of the Gwadar Safe City within the Gwadar Smart Port City, which promises a bright future for the region. He expressed optimism that the local population and Pakistanis eagerly anticipate its early realization.

During the launch of the Green Employment Scheme, Ambassador Rong emphasized its alignment with Prime Minister Imran Khan's Clean Green Gwadar Movement and pledged China's cooperation with Pakistan to transform CPEC into an environmentally responsible Belt and Road Initiative.

While awarding scholarships to Middle School Faqeer Colony Gwadar's outstanding students, Ambassador Rong acknowledged the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations, emphasizing the pivotal role children play in nurturing Pakistan-China friendship. He urged the students to seize the opportunity, excel academically, and become future leaders and contributors to CPEC's enduring legacy.

Ambassador Rong celebrated the remarkable transformation of Gwadar Port, a CPEC pilot project, into a model of production and construction while effectively combatting the spread of COVID-19 in BRI projects. He reiterated China's commitment to Gwadar's development and expressed confidence in its future as a regional beacon.

The Chinese envoy envisaged Gwadar's prosperous future, marked by the growth of port-related industries and the establishment of export processing zones tailored to local needs. He emphasized that Gwadar's development would serve as a benchmark for harmonious progress and a testament to the success of the Belt and Road Initiative.
