Pakistan has taken a significant step to advance Gwadar’s role in regional trade by signing an investment agreement with China's Xinning Enterprise. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the deal targets the expansion of Gwadar Port’s infrastructure and the development of new industries in the Gwadar Free Zone, aligning with long-term goals under CPEC.
The partnership aims to upgrade port capabilities, improve trade flow, and establish Gwadar as a top-tier transshipment hub. Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry welcomed the agreement, calling it a turning point for Pakistan’s maritime development. He emphasized its importance in elevating the blue economy while opening up avenues for foreign investment and local job creation.
The agreement also provides a roadmap for industrial growth within the Free Zone. It envisions setting up processing units and export-oriented facilities to enhance the region’s economic output. As Gwadar positions itself for a more central role in international shipping, the strategic collaboration with China promises a new era of development and connectivity for the port city.
