During a meeting with British High Commissioner Thomas Drew at the Parliament House, Sanjrani specifically mentioned the promising investment prospects in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar. He referred to Gwadar as the "epicenter of regional development."
Sanjrani underlined the significance of Pakistan's bilateral relations with the United Kingdom and expressed a desire to expand collaboration across multiple sectors. He stressed the importance of providing more scholarships for Pakistani students to pursue higher education.
Furthermore, Sanjrani called for increased cooperation between the parliaments of Pakistan and the UK in areas such as legislation, administration, research, library services, and public relations. He believed that strengthened parliamentary ties and institutional collaboration would help build consensus on various issues.
High Commissioner Thomas Drew echoed the Senate chairman's sentiments, acknowledging the improved security situation in Pakistan. He mentioned initiatives like the Commonwealth Scholarship scheme and the Chevening program, which provide opportunities for Pakistani students to study in the UK. Additionally, he noted that British Airways' decision to resume flights to Pakistan would boost investor confidence.
Sanjrani extended an invitation to the British high commissioner to visit Gwadar and witness the investment-friendly environment. He also invited his counterpart from the House of Lords to visit Pakistan.
Sanjrani expressed gratitude to the UK government, parliament, and all parties in the House of Commons for their attention to the Kashmir issue during a recent visit by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
In a separate meeting with Egypt Ambassador Ahmed Muhammad Fadal Yacoub, both sides emphasized the importance of joint efforts to promote regional and global peace and security.
Sanjrani lamented recent tensions within the Muslim Ummah and stressed the need for dialogue to resolve issues, emphasizing that war only leads to destruction. He proposed scholarships for Pakistani students to study at Al Azhar University.
The Egyptian ambassador agreed with the Senate chairman's views and emphasized that enhanced institutional connections and bilateral contacts would open up new avenues for cooperation.
