Invitation Extended to Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Members for Investment Opportunities in Gwadar

The Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Naseer Khan Kashani, recently met with members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) to encourage them to explore investment opportunities in Gwadar, a prominent port city in Pakistan. Mr. Kashani highlighted that the government had already announced plans to provide various facilities and incentives to businessmen interested in investing in Gwadar. He assured the QCCI members that their investment and trade proposals would be given priority.

Mr. Kashani provided updates on the progress of key infrastructure projects in Gwadar. He mentioned that 92 percent of the Eastbay Expressway had been completed, and the Pakistan-China Vocational Center had been operational for three months. Additionally, work was progressing rapidly on other projects initiated under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Gwadar and the surrounding areas.

The QCCI members, including Chief Ghulam Farooq Khliji, Senior Vice President Abdullah Achakzai, Vice President Akhtar Kakar, and others, welcomed Mr. Kashani and shared that a recent delegation from the Chamber had visited Gwadar Port to assess the situation and progress on the ground.

They suggested that exporters and importers from Balochistan should also receive tax exemptions at Gwadar Port, similar to the provisions outlined in SRO 492. The QCCI members expressed their willingness to cooperate with the government in matters related to Gwadar Port.

Mr. Kashani emphasized that Gwadar presented a golden opportunity for individuals involved in industry and trade. He encouraged them to make informed and timely decisions regarding investments in the port city. He also mentioned that further trade-friendly measures, including tax exemptions and incentives, were being considered, and the goal was to develop 31 berths in Gwadar by 2050.

In conclusion, Mr. Kashani stressed the importance of collective efforts to successfully complete the Gwadar project, acknowledging that there were challenges and external pressures aimed at disrupting its progress.
