Beijing B2B Conference Secures $4bn Agri Deals for Pakistan

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain represented Pakistan at the Pak-China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing, where agriculture-sector MoUs exceeding $4 billion were signed.

The one-day conference, organized alongside the Prime Minister’s visit to China, featured formal ceremonies and B2B sessions connecting major agri-industry stakeholders. Among the participants were GDSP Dayu, GDSP Jessica EV, GDSP PIESAT, GDSP LOVOL, Sanyang Company Xinjiang, and Jinghua Seed Industry Company Limited. Pakistani representation included Guard Agricultural Research and Services (Pvt) Limited and China State Engineering Construction Corporation GDSP, among others.

In his engagements, the minister urged Chinese firms to expand investment in Pakistan’s agriculture sector, with a focus on mechanization, seed development, smart farming, and precision agriculture. These areas, he highlighted, are vital for improving productivity and strengthening Pakistan’s food security.

Referring to China’s $215 billion annual agricultural imports, Hussain stressed that Pakistan is well-positioned to supply fruits, vegetables, and cereals at competitive prices, supported by its geographical proximity. He underscored Pakistan’s strategic advantage over distant suppliers such as Brazil and other Western nations.

The minister commended the joint initiatives of Pakistani and Chinese companies under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, reaffirming Islamabad’s resolve to foster long-term agricultural cooperation with Beijing.
