At the 2nd Hainan International Tropical Food Supply Chain Expo 2024, Sardar Muhammad, Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, underscored Pakistan’s vital role in global food security and its strengthened trade ties with China. Speaking at the event’s Opening Ceremony, he delivered a speech titled “Further Deepening China-Pakistan Food Trade in the Context of The Belt and Road Initiative.” He highlighted Pakistan's status as a key partner, emphasizing the country's remarkable agricultural output. Pakistan ranks 5th globally in cotton and sugarcane production, 6th in wheat and dates, and 9th in rice, while also being China’s second-largest rice supplier.

Muhammad called for enhanced collaboration between Pakistan and China in the food trade sector, citing Pakistan’s agricultural diversity as a significant advantage. He noted that stronger bilateral trade would not only meet growing food demands but also foster regional stability and economic growth. During his interactions with the media, he stressed the potential for partnerships and investments in Pakistan’s agricultural and food industries, urging stakeholders to explore the opportunities available.

At the Pakistani Pavilion, spanning 72 square meters, visitors experienced the high-quality food products Pakistan offers, such as premium rice and sesame seeds. A Truck Style Karak Tea station, serving freshly brewed tea alongside traditional Pakistani cookies, became a key attraction, providing visitors with a unique taste of Pakistan’s rich culinary heritage. These experiences reinforced the strong bond between Pakistan and China, showcasing how the Belt and Road Initiative continues to open doors for increased trade and cooperation.
