CPEC's Transformative Impact on Pakistan's Energy and Infrastructure

In a recent statement, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gilani underscored the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in revolutionizing Pakistan’s energy and infrastructure sectors. Speaking at a report launch event organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan, Gilani praised the contributions of Chinese companies, which he noted are vital in enhancing the country's economic landscape and creating job opportunities.

He elaborated on how the fast-evolving geo-economic landscape highlights the necessity for strengthened economic ties with partner nations, particularly China. The Senate Chairman expressed optimism about the immense potential for trade, investment, and joint ventures in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology.

Highlighting the crucial role of CPEC, a flagship initiative of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Gilani stated that it has been instrumental in reshaping Pakistan’s energy framework and infrastructure capabilities. He added that the next phase of collaboration will extend into agricultural modernization, industrial development, and educational partnerships, fostering socio-economic growth in Pakistan.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong echoed Gilani’s sentiments, affirming China's readiness to collaborate with Pakistan to fulfill the shared objectives of enhancing CPEC and ensuring high-quality development that benefits both nations.

Launched in 2013, CPEC connects Gwadar Port in Balochistan with Kashgar in Xinjiang, focusing on energy, transport, and industrial cooperation, while also venturing into agriculture and livelihood improvements in its new phase.
