President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its long-standing relationship with China, calling the two nations “all-weather, iron-clad brothers.” In an interview with China’s state-owned broadcaster CGTN, the President highlighted the deep-rooted cooperation between Pakistan and China, emphasizing areas such as energy, education, and connectivity as key pillars of their partnership.
During his recent visit to China, President Zardari described his trip as a gesture of goodwill, underscoring that “China is the future, and all of the East will work with China.” Reflecting on China’s Global Governance Initiative, he stated that mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity forms the foundation of global cooperation. “Global governance means that I cannot walk into any other country, nor can any other country walk into mine,” he remarked.
President Zardari reiterated that Pakistan stands firmly with China in both good and challenging times, noting that their shared vision transcends politics and focuses on people-centered development. He stressed the importance of replacing militarized mindsets with economic collaboration, stating, “We don’t need a marshal mindset; we need an economical mindset. We need to let the people live and let live.”
Highlighting the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, the President said the initiative represents a “great futuristic project” that will serve as China’s closest port connection through Gwadar. He expressed optimism that the development will bring new employment and trade opportunities, particularly benefiting the Balochistan region. “Economic growth keeps nations together,” he added, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability to ensure shared prosperity.
President Zardari concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent support for China’s global positions and achievements, describing the relationship as one of enduring trust, respect, and mutual benefit.
