Demonstrating its global prowess, operational efficiency, and cutting-edge capabilities, Gwadar Port has impeccably received and managed nine consecutive ships, each carrying 450,000 metric tons of Russian wheat. The transshipment at Gwadar Port represents a dedicated endeavor to stave off Pakistan's wheat scarcity and avert a looming food crisis.

All nine substantial vessels berthed at the 600-meter-long docks of Gwadar Port from March 2nd to May 3rd. The precise handling of these wheat-laden ships reaffirms the port's readiness to manage forthcoming international cargo with finesse.

An official from the Gwadar Shipping Clearing Agents Association (AGSCAA) asserted that Gwadar Port has outperformed other Pakistani ports in processing wheat shipments. Notably, Gwadar Port boasts economic advantages over congested alternatives like KPT and Qasim Ports, which often incur demurrage fees and exorbitant storage charges. At Gwadar Port, there are no such surcharges, and it offers expedited stevedoring services.

Since the first vessel's arrival in early March, Gwadar Port has maintained a flawless track record, with zero losses during wheat discharge and dispatch. Pakistani laborers have efficiently managed all aspects of loading, unloading, and transportation, replacing manual handling with the Web-Based One Custom Clearance System (WeBOC).

WeBOC integration at Gwadar Port has ushered in automation, standardization, and harmonization of trade procedures and logistics services through the Pakistan Single Window (PSW). Collaborative efforts between entities such as the China Overseas Ports Holding Company, Trading Corporation of Pakistan, Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation Limited, Pakistan Customs, National Logistics Cell, Gwadar Free Zone, and GITL have ensured seamless operations.

According to a Gwadar International Terminals Limited representative, the import of wheat via Gwadar Port marks a significant milestone, poised to stimulate trade activities in the region. Officials from the Ministry of Ports and Shipping anticipate expanded utilization of the port for international shipments following the successful handling of wheat. The government's commitment to supporting Gwadar Port includes facilitating export-import, cargo transit, and Afghan trade operations, further enhancing its strategic importance.
