GCUF Strengthens Ties with China Through Research Agreements


Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, is on an official visit to China to participate in the 5th Belt and Road China–Pakistan Agriculture Forum, hosted by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan.

At the forum, Prof. Yan Jianbing, President of HZAU, highlighted the importance of expanding Belt and Road academic cooperation. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, praised the enduring Pakistan–China friendship and recognized HZAU’s efforts in fostering joint research initiatives.

Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized GCUF’s dedication to internationalization, inviting Chinese students and researchers to collaborate with GCUF in Faisalabad. He encouraged faculty and students to engage in academic and research programs at leading Chinese institutions, including HZAU.

During the visit, the Vice Chancellor signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lushan Botanical Garden under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This agreement aims to establish Pakistan’s first botanical garden dedicated to environmental education and scientific tourism.

Additionally, GCUF signed a significant MoU with Huazhong Agricultural University to enhance collaboration in agricultural and biological sciences. The agreement outlines joint research and teaching programs, faculty and postgraduate exchanges, shared supervision frameworks, and collaborative applications for international research projects.
