Pakistan, China Deepen Ties in Health Sector Cooperation

At the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Pakistan and China reaffirmed their strong partnership by pledging to deepen cooperation in the healthcare sector. Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, met with his Chinese counterpart in a high-level bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit. The leaders discussed several key areas, including joint vaccine production, traditional medicine, and integrating cutting-edge medical technologies.

Minister Kamal described the Pakistan-China relationship as “exemplary,” emphasizing the deep-rooted connection between both nations. He expressed Pakistan’s intention to capitalise on China’s vast medical expertise to enhance local healthcare capabilities and reduce reliance on imported pharmaceuticals.

“The Government of Pakistan is determined to boost domestic manufacturing in the pharmaceutical and vaccine sectors,” Kamal stated. He highlighted that ongoing health reforms under the Prime Minister's vision are focused on creating a resilient, self-sufficient healthcare system.

China’s Health Minister echoed the sentiment, confirming their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation. He stressed the importance of sharing knowledge and resources to help both countries reach their healthcare development objectives.

This diplomatic engagement showcases Pakistan’s strategic focus on forging international alliances to improve healthcare delivery, innovate within the sector, and address public health challenges through joint initiatives.
