Emergency Response Tested in Night Fire Drill at New Gwadar Airport

In a significant move to enhance aviation safety, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has conducted its first-ever night fire emergency drill at the New Gwadar International Airport, located in Balochistan. The simulation took place on Wednesday night and was designed to evaluate the airport's preparedness for handling emergencies under low visibility conditions.

The exercise replicated an aircraft fire scenario, testing the coordination, response time, and operational readiness of firefighting and rescue personnel. Teams responded promptly, executing fire extinguishing protocols and conducting structured rescue operations around the simulated crash site.

To add realism and critical care practice, a triage zone was set up near the mock crash site. This zone served to provide emergency medical aid and manage casualty classification efficiently, highlighting the comprehensive scope of the drill.

According to the PAA, these drills are part of an ongoing national strategy to reinforce emergency infrastructure and enhance response capabilities at major airports, especially at strategic hubs like Gwadar, which is expected to see increased air traffic in the near future.
