Historic Airbus Landing at New Gwadar International Airport

The New Gwadar International Airport in Balochistan, Pakistan, marked a historic moment as it received its first Airbus on Tuesday. This milestone highlights the airport’s growing capacity and strategic significance, according to its manager, Khalid Kakar.

A special flight from the United Arab Emirates landed successfully, making it the first-ever Airbus landing in Gwadar’s aviation history. The China-aided 4F-grade airport boasts world-class infrastructure, including a 3,658-meter-long and 75-meter-wide runway, designed to accommodate the largest civil aircraft with cutting-edge engineering.

Since its official launch on January 20, the airport has handled several small aircraft, but this Airbus landing solidifies its ability to facilitate large passenger and cargo flights. “This achievement underscores our airport’s exceptional operational readiness and international connectivity,” Kakar stated.

As a key component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the New Gwadar International Airport is set to play a pivotal role in regional trade and economic development, enhancing Gwadar’s global accessibility.
