The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to operationalizing the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIAP) by the end of this month. A press release issued on Thursday highlighted the visit of key figures from the PAA to Gwadar, including Acting Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed and Deputy DG Airports Engr Sadiqur Rehman, who were accompanied by Project Director Engr Faizullah Khattak.
Their visit was aimed at assessing the airport’s operational readiness and engaging with representatives from key stakeholders such as the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army, and the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce.
During the visit, Engr Faizullah Khattak briefed the delegation about the advanced features of the airport, emphasizing its potential for boosting business and investment in the region. AVM Zeeshan Saeed praised the project team for their hard work and expressed confidence that the airport would begin operations by the end of this month.
The New Gwadar International Airport, a flagship project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and drive economic growth. With a total cost of $246 million, funded by Chinese assistance, the airport boasts modern facilities, including a world-class terminal and a runway designed to handle large aircraft.
