Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to lay the foundation stone for Gwadar's upcoming airport later this week, as confirmed by a Chinese Embassy official on Tuesday.

Notably, the Civil Aviation Authority has already earmarked 3,000 acres of land for this new international airport, strategically positioned approximately 26 kilometers to the northeast of the current airport.

"Design and feasibility work for the project are already completed, with an estimated cost of $230 million," stated an official from the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Secretariat. "This new airport will hold international status and operate under an open-sky policy."

Furthermore, the development of the new airport will entail an expansion of the existing airport's capacity.

"The introduction of this international airport will transform Gwadar into an aviation hub, significantly enhancing the China Pakistan Economic Corridor framework," he emphasized.

The airport will be equipped to accommodate a variety of aircraft, including the A380 Boeing, facilitating the smooth transportation of international investors and tourists.
