In a significant move to address Gwadar's electricity needs, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a vital "revised" energy project focused on improving transmission line infrastructure for the coastal city.
Chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, the CDWP meeting greenlit the energy project for Gwadar, along with another project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, after extensive discussions.
The approved project, named 'Construction of 220kV Transmission Line (28km) along with 2nd Circuit Stringing of 132kV Transmission Line from Jiwani to Gwadar (94km) Revised,' is valued at Rs4540.010 million, as reported by Gwadar Pro.
Funded through the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), this Rs4.54001 billion initiative aims to provide a consistent power supply to consumers across all categories and improve the commercial viability of the power sector.
The project includes constructing grid stations, such as a 132kV (AIS) grid station in Jiwani with a 132 KV Line Bay facing the Jiwani–Gwadar Circuit, and another 132kV (AIS) grid station in old Gwadar with a 132 KV Line Bay facing the Gwadar (old)-Jiwani Circuit.
Additionally, it involves building a 220/132kV Transmission Line from Gabd to Jiwani (Zero Point) and the second Circuit Stringing of the existing 132kV SDT Jiwani–Gwadar (old) 99km Transmission Line (QESCO portion).
