Two groundbreaking housing initiatives in Gwadar have successfully tapped into the national power grid, courtesy of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as reported by Pakistan Today over the weekend.
Under this initiative, electricity connections have been greenlit and established for the International Port City and China Pak Golf Estates, both spearheaded by the China Pakistan Investment Corporation (CPIC). This marks a significant turning point in Gwadar's development, as these residential ventures represent the pioneering private sector projects in the city to be electrified.
CPIC, an esteemed international developer, has been at the forefront of Gwadar's real estate transformation, actively promoting the city on a global scale. Notably, the corporation clinched the "Best Real Estate Development of the Year" award at the Shenzhen International Property Awards in 2018 and received the "Best International Real Estate Developer of the Year" accolade from the former governor of Sindh.
In light of this achievement, CPIC's Chief Engineer, Waqas Moazzam, emphasized the significance of this milestone. He expressed, "This development signifies another remarkable stride made by our corporation in Gwadar, as our projects now stand ready for occupancy. We have infused substantial capital into Gwadar's economy, and the tangible results are evident. In the years ahead, CPIC's projects will be the preferred choice for both local and international professionals seeking top-tier living within secure gated communities."
CPIC had previously concluded the development phases for the first two segments of their colossal project, International Port City, in 2019, complete with all essential internal infrastructure, encompassing parks and recreational amenities. Additionally, a show home is presently under construction on the premises.
Waqas reiterated that CPIC's vision has consistently revolved around cultivating world-class societies. He underscored, "To fully unlock the city's potential and attract leading local and international talents, the creation of high-quality, integrated residential communities within secure environments is imperative."
Furthermore, he proudly asserted that when CPIC embarked on these projects, Gwadar lacked any substantial development initiatives from other developers. However, through the collective efforts of their experienced international team, Chinese consultants, unwavering determination, and perseverance, CPIC has achieved this remarkable milestone and added yet another prestigious accolade to Gwadar's burgeoning legacy.
