Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing educational exchanges within the University Alliance of Belt & Road Forum. This intent was voiced by Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan's Ambassador to China, and Peter Levai of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences during a recent forum meeting at Lanzhou University, Gansu Province. Themed "International Education Collaboration under Digital Empowerment, Green Innovation, and Shared Development," the event attracted nearly 100 experts from 21 international institutions and 42 Chinese universities.
Since its inception in 2015, the University Alliance has promoted cross-border cooperation in education, science, and culture, now encompassing 184 universities across 27 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries. Yang Yongping, Lanzhou University's president, highlighted the Alliance’s role in creating quality educational platforms that integrate curricula, faculty expertise, and technology, striving to establish a community with a shared educational vision.
In attendance were representatives from diverse nations, including the U.S., Canada, and Pakistan, discussing the future of digital education and international collaboration. The Medical Sub-Alliance was recently launched, joining existing ecology, art, and vocational education sub-alliances. Four new universities signed MoUs, further solidifying the Alliance’s mission of educational innovation and growth within the BRI framework.
