China has announced 75 fully-funded scholarships for Pakistani students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program (2026–27), offering opportunities for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in a wide range of academic fields. The initiative, supported by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), reflects China’s continued commitment to promoting educational cooperation and cultural exchange with Pakistan.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan serves as the official nominating agency for this program and will be responsible for shortlisting eligible candidates. The program includes a one-year Chinese language preparatory course, ensuring that students are linguistically and culturally prepared for academic life in China.
For undergraduate degrees, study durations range from four to five years, plus a preparatory year unless applicants already possess an HSK Level 3 certificate. Master’s programs span two to three years, while PhD programs typically last three to four years, with language preparation as needed.
The CSC scholarship offers full financial coverage, including tuition fees, on-campus accommodation or housing allowance, and a monthly living stipend according to the degree level. However, travel expenses are the responsibility of the student, and HEC will not bear any financial liability.
Applicants must hold Pakistani or AJK nationality and be in good health. Academic qualifications must align with the program level — 12 years of schooling for undergraduate, a bachelor’s degree for master’s, and a master’s or MPhil for PhD programs. Age limits are set at under 25 years for BS, under 35 years for MS, and under 40 years for PhD applicants.
Eligible candidates must fulfill both CSC and university admission requirements, including academic performance and language proficiency. They must also submit valid test scores such as USAT (for BS) or HAT (for MS/PhD).
Students applying for professional degrees like medicine, engineering, law, architecture, or veterinary sciences must ensure their chosen programs are recognized by relevant professional councils such as PMDC, PEC, PNC, PCATP, PBC, and PVMC.
The application process requires submission through both the HEC and CSC portals. Applicants must first complete their profiles on the HEC portal under “Learning Opportunities Abroad,” print, and sign the application form. They must then submit a second application on the CSC portal (Agency Number 5861, Program Category Type A).
Undergraduate applicants are also required to appear for the CSCA test on December 21, 2025, and obtain their score reports before the application deadline.
Shortlisted candidates will later need to provide attested and translated documents, including academic transcripts, CNIC, domicile, study plan or research proposal, language proficiency certificates, passport, and police clearance certificate. Two recommendation letters are also mandatory for MS and PhD candidates.
The deadline for submission on both portals is Monday, January 5, 2026, by 4:00 PM (PST). For queries or assistance, candidates can access the HEC help portal or contact the helpline at 051-111-119-432 / 0334-111-9432.
This scholarship program stands as another testament to Pakistan–China friendship, nurturing future leaders through education, innovation, and cultural understanding.
