During a send-off ceremony at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), the minister announced that 224 Pakistani agriculture graduates are departing for China under the Prime Minister’s Special Capacity-Building Initiative. The participants will undergo specialized training at two leading Chinese universities. At the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in Shaanxi, they will focus on crop genetic breeding, veterinary medicine, intelligent agricultural equipment, and animal breeding. Meanwhile, at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan, trainees will study seed production and processing in partnership with Qingfa-Heshang Agricultural Development Company.
Minister Hussain commended the joint efforts of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Higher Education Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing in implementing this program. He emphasized that investing in youth and human capital is the foundation of sustainable agricultural growth.
He further noted that these graduates will become catalysts for innovation and productivity enhancement upon returning to Pakistan, applying advanced Chinese practices and technologies to local contexts.
Highlighting the initiative as a strategic extension of Pakistan–China cooperation under CPEC, the minister expressed confidence that this collaboration will modernize agriculture, encourage climate-smart practices, and boost Pakistan’s agricultural exports through enhanced technical capacity and cross-border knowledge sharing.
