LAHORE, August 13 (Gwadar Pro) - The Chinese Consulate General in Lahore has unveiled a new scholarship initiative for students at the University of Sargodha, as confirmed by a university statement.

The "Consular General Scholarships" were announced by Zhao Shiren, the Chinese Consul General, during a recent meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. To inaugurate the program, Mr. Zhao presented a cheque of Rs. 1 million.

This initiative is viewed as a reflection of the robust educational relationship between China and Pakistan and a commitment to promoting academic excellence.

The "Consular General Scholarships" are part of a larger initiative by China to enhance educational support in Pakistan. Additionally, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad has rolled out similar assistance through the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Program, benefiting multiple universities nationwide. These scholarships are awarded based on merit and need, with 50% specifically reserved for female students to address the gender disparity in higher education.
