Promoting Bio-Health Agriculture through BRI Symposium in China


The 6th International Symposium on Belt and Road Bio-Health Agriculture convened recently at Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), China. Co-chaired by Professor Mushtaq Ahmad of Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan, and Professor Zhang Lixin of NWAFU, the event featured notable collaborations from organizations like the Sino-Pak Research Center for Agro-Biological Resources and the Shaanxi Hybrid Rapeseed Research Centre.

Over 200 participants, including representatives from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey, joined in person and virtually to discuss advancing agricultural biodiversity and smart farming solutions. Keynote speaker Luo Jun, NWAFU Vice President, highlighted collaborative efforts in biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and ecological restoration.

Khan Muhammad Wazir, Pakistan’s Scientific Counsellor, stressed accelerating agricultural talent development, joint laboratories, and demonstration parks to strengthen China-Pakistan ties. Professor Zabta Khan Shinwari and Professor Shukhrat Shokirov shared strategies to bolster agricultural cooperation between China and countries like Uzbekistan.

The symposium delivered 20 keynote reports addressing bio-healthy agricultural products, green farming technologies, and biodiversity preservation, marking significant progress in fostering global partnerships under the Belt and Road Initiative.
