CPEC’s Karot HPP Report 2025 Highlights Energy Success

China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. launched the Karot Hydropower Project Report 2025 on February 18 in Islamabad, showcasing the project's success under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The report highlights the Karot Hydropower Project’s (HPP) contribution to Pakistan’s energy sector, generating approximately 3,206 GWh of clean and renewable electricity annually. This sustainable energy initiative significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 35 million tons per year while ensuring compliance with the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP).

Beyond energy production, the project has fostered economic growth by creating nearly 5,000 jobs during construction and sustaining 150 positions in its operational phase. This has provided employment opportunities, promoted local skill development, and contributed to Pakistan’s socio-economic progress.
