The SK project, managed by China Gezhouba Group Co (CGGC), has reached a crucial milestone in its construction. The project boasts a workforce of over 2,700 Pakistani and 650 Chinese employees, all working together to prevent any confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on site.

To combat the pandemic, the SK project site has been meticulously divided into more than 400 working zones, each under the supervision of dedicated safety coordinators like Akhbab Sharif, who hail from both Pakistan and China. These coordinators are entrusted with overseeing daily epidemic prevention efforts within their respective zones.

Akhbab Sharif emphasized, "Our current circumstances are challenging, but my foremost responsibility is ensuring the safety of every worker in my zone. I am committed to playing my part in preventing the spread of the virus." Under the banner of "Safety First," Akhbab Sharif and his colleagues conduct daily inspections of the construction site, diligently monitoring worker safety.

Armed with an infrared temperature gun, Akhbab Sharif undertakes critical epidemic prevention measures, including regular disinfection, temperature and health data recording, and continuous reminders to onsite personnel about hand hygiene, social distancing, dormitory cleanliness, and proper ventilation.

Sponsored by CGGC, the SK Hydropower Project is a run-of-the-river venture situated alongside the Kunhar River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It ranks among Pakistan's largest private sector power development initiatives and forms an integral part of CPEC's "Early Harvest" projects. The successful completion of this project is expected to significantly contribute to Pakistan's economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19-induced economic downturn.
